Meeting of the Heads of Supreme audit institutions of EU candidate countries

 

Istanbul, 9th March 2011. – Delegation of State audit institution of Montenegro participated at the Meeting of the heads of the supreme audit institutions of the candidate and potential candidate countries to EU and European Court of auditors, which was organized by Turkish Court of accounts and SIGMA.

 

 

Mr. Miroslav Ivanišević, President of Senate, had a presentation on theme ‘Relations between State audit institution of Montenegro and Parliament with a special attention to follow-up of audit findings, which was one of the most important activities recognized as a priority among other future activities of Network of Supreme audit institutions of candidate and potential candidate counties to EU.

The meeting resulted in the adoption of the Istanbul Agreement of Presidents of supreme audit institutions of the candidate and potential candidate countries to EU, in which following activities are emphasized: independence of supreme audit institutions, relation with Parliament, as well as audit quality. The future activities will have an impact on further strengthening of credibility and institutional development of supreme audit institutions.

At this meeting, State audit institution of Montenegro expressed its willingness to host the Conference on importance of relation between Supreme audit institutions and Parliament, as well as other public administration bodies. This Conference is planned to be held next year.
