The Parliamentary committee on economy, finance and budget has determined the Action Plan for implementation of the obligations from the Protocol on cooperation between the Parliament of Montenegro and the State audit institution

Podgorica, 22nd November, 2021 - President of the Senate PhD Milan Dabović, member of Senate Zoran Jelić and state auditor - head of the Department for cooperative audits, international cooperation, cooperation with Parliament, Government and public Marija Žugić have attended the 17th session of the Committee on economy, finance and budget of the Parliament of Montenegro with regards to consideration and determination the Action Plan for implementation of the obligations from the Protocol on cooperation between the Parliament of Montenegro and the State audit institution.


In April, the State audit institution with the Parliament and Foundation has drafted the Action Plan for implementation of the obligations from the Protocol on Cooperation. Addressing the participants, President of the Senate PhD Milan Dabović has pointed out that the Action Plan is one of the results of mutual cooperation after the Conference on cooperation between the Parliament and SAI, organized by the Westminster Foundation for Democracy was held in February 2021. President has informed the President and members of the Committee on economy, finance and budget about the activities and plans implemented by the SAI in order to fulfill the measures from the Action Plan.

Member of the Senate, Zoran Jelić has talked about the measures proposed for elaboration of obligations defined by the Protocol on cooperation between the Parliament and State audit institution, which relate to the obligations of the SAI. He has pointed out that in the draft Action Plan, the obligations defined by the Protocol are grouped by different areas of cooperation and that they are additionally elaborated with measures from the Communication strategy of the State audit institution for the period 2020-2024. The Member of Senate has explained the measures related to defining clear procedures for acting upon reports on individual audits and introducing the practice of presenting SAI reports at committee meetings, process of monitoring the activities of audited entities on audit recommendations and conclusions, and initiating an annual meeting with the Parliament during annual audit planning process.

The Committee on economy, finance and budget of the Parliament of Montenegro has determined the Action plan for the implementation of obligations from the Protocol on cooperation between the Parliament of Montenegro and the State audit institution.

In addition to the SAI representatives, the session has been attended by the Director of the Westminster foundation in Montenegro, Ana Milutinović and virtually by the Director of the Western Balkans Program at the Westminster Foundation, Emil Atanasovski.
