The SAI submitted official letters to the Ministry of finance and social welfare regarding draft laws adopted at the 17th session of the Government of Montenegro

Podgorica, 1st April 2021 – With regards to the published press release from the 17th session of the Government of Montenegro, held on 30th March 2021, in which it has been stated that the Government adopted the Draft Law on the Final Account of the Budget of Montenegro for 2019, Draft Law on Budget for 2021, Draft Law on Amendments to the Law on Budget and Fiscal Responsibility, as well as Draft Decision on Borrowing of Montenegro for 2021, the State audit institution has made requests to the Ministry of finance and social welfare for delivery of the mentioned documents.

Taking into account that the Draft Law on the Final Account of the Budget of Montenegro for 2019 was adopted in the previous Government's convocation and that the SAI performed the audit of the given draft Law, the State audit institution has required from the Ministry of finance and social welfare to submit the Draft Law on the Final Account of the Budget of Montenegro for 2019, as well as the information about possible changes in relation to the previously audited document, as well as information about possible changes in the electronic data base of the General State Treasury Ledger.

The State audit institution has also requested from the Ministry of finance and social welfare to submit the adopted Draft Law on Budget for 2021, Draft Law on Amendments to the Law on Budget and Fiscal Responsibility, as well as Draft Decision on Borrowing of Montenegro for 2021 taking into consideration its mandate according to the Article 6 of the Law on the State audit institution prescribing that the Institution, when adopting the budget of Montenegro and the Final Budget Accounts of Montenegro, submits to the Parliament of Montenegro the overview of its findings on the budget and state of property, pointing out the causes and consequences of any major errors and irregularities and proposing measures for their elimination.
