Held Conference “Developing Effective Working Relationships between Supreme audit institutions (SAI) and Parliaments”

Ankara, 11th November 2016 – The international conference “Developing Effective Working Relationships between Supreme audit institutions (SAI) and Parliaments” has been organized on 8th and 9th November in Ankara, Turkey.

President of Senate, PhD Milan Dabović, members of Senate, PhD Branislav Radulović and Nikola N. Kovačević as well as a chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on economy, finance and budget of Montenegro, Aleksandar Damjanović have participated at the conference. The host of the conference has been Turkish Court of Accounts and SIGMA has provided a financial and logistical support to this event.

The main objective of the conference has been to present a Guidance paper for developing effective working relationships between the supreme audit institutions and parliaments – the document which was prepared based on the survey conducted by the Turkish Court of Accounts and SIGMA, and in which the experience and practices of 33 member states of EU, candidate countries and potential candidate countries of EU was presented in this area. The guidance paper provides an overview of the examples of good practices as well as a tool for improvement of the relationships and communication between the supreme audit institutions and parliaments.

During the first day, two themes have been presented and two panel discussions have been held. The first one has referred to presentation of the Guidance paper for developing effective working relationships between the supreme audit institutions and parliaments and experience and practices of the states in this field.

The second theme has been dedicated to effective communication channels and relationships with the parliaments. Under this topic, the representatives of the State audit institution of Montenegro have taken active part during the panel discussion.

The second day has been focused on presentation of the topic relating to follow up process of the audit findings and recommendations of the supreme audit institutions and cooperation with the parliaments. Under this topic, Mr. Aleksandar Damjanović has participated during the panel discussion.
